Dock update May 2020
Dear Dock community, Those of you who follow our progress will know that we recently released our Northill test net, a first yet significant step toward our vision of moving the control of our credentialing data; qualifications, licenses, professional qualifications, medical information and more, away from third parties. Finally enabling claims issuers and recipients to have shared ownership over their data. With a view to putting Northill into context, and to provide an insight into our plans for the remainder of the year, we now release our 2020 roadmap. The roadmap milestones are a combination of business objectives and network features and the blog post (which we encourage you to read) contains a high-level overview of each of them along with some broad timelines. However, for the impatient amongst you, the highlight is that by the conclusion of 2020 we aim to have a decentralized network hosted by a number of diverse validators who are incentivised via a native Dock token running on our own blockchain! Exciting and very busy times ahead! The first public W3C credential verifier In parallel with working through the second milestone of our roadmap, Schemas, some of the development team have also been working on a credential verifier. The verifier is available here and you can either drag and drop a JSON file into the verifier or you can select one via your file browser by clicking on 'Choose JSON file'. The JSON files can be used to represent any form of claims across multiple industry sectors. Dock focusses on using open standards where possible as they make our solutions interoperable with other standards-compliant technologies. They are also more likely to appeal to large organisations who are less likely to want to use bespoke and niche standards. Dock has chosen the W3C's Verifiable Credentials Data Model (VDCM) - a standard born out of the work of a diverse international community of experts and by an organization which has been at the forefront of software standards for 30 years. It is the first (as far as we know) publicly available VDCM compliant verifier in existence. It's open-source and free to use and we hope that this verifier, and the visual evidence it provides, serves to demonstrate the value of this technology moving forward. That's it for this update, we'll be back with more in June! 18 Bartol St. #1128 San Francisco, CA 94133 |
