| | BitMEX is launching new Ether/USD futures, which settle in bitcoin
Bitmex, a crypto-derivative exchange is launching a new Ether (ETH/USD) futures contract starting May 5th.
With the new ETH/USD contracts, traders can speculate on the future USD price of ETH. The traders can leverage the new contracts up to 50 times and they will need to post their margin in Bitcoin (BTC).
The first ETHUSD contract (ETHUSDM20) will expire in June.
| | Coinbase Emerges as a Major DeFi Contender with Price Oracle Launch
A cryptocurrency exchange, Coinbase is introducing its own price oracle to improve the DeFi ecosystem. The service will be available through its Coinbase Pro API. Coinbase stated that the current price feed data are not efficient as it requires trusting the publisher to post the correct price and the DEX on-chain data would expose the protocols to potential attack. With its price oracle, the data is already signed by Coinbase's private key where the price feed data is already verified without the need to trust the publisher. Sorare, a blockchain-based fantasy soccer game recently signed a licensing agreement with a soccer team, Real Betis.
The agreement drew Nabil Fekir, the star player of Real Betis La Liga last summer, to be one of the digital collectible player cards issued by Sorare.
In the game, club "managers" create teams of five player cards to compete for weekly rewards; the most successful can earn a prize of as high as 2.64 Ether (ETH).
