What's Up with the FAN Token World Tour? ICYMI, recently the FCFL participated in Data Con (formerly Big Data Day LA)'s Startup Pitch Competition β and won! Congratulations to our very own Chief Product Officer Grant Cohen who gave the pitch and is pictured below along with Ray Austin, Patrick Dees and event organizer Subash D'Souza. If you've been following along, you know August has been a pretty slow month on the tour. With summer holidays, it's a light month for the conference circuit. But stay tuned, as our September dance card is already filling up, with participation at Blockchain Seattle, Mobile World Congress, FanVest's LA Esports Business Summit, and the Blockchain & ICO Funding Summit already on the agenda. As Seen on the FAN Token Blog As we highlight trending events, issues, and decisions in the world of sports and analyze how they may or may not factor into the Fan Controlled Football League, this week's FAN Take takes a look at where to find the best athletes, and, particularly, where the FCFL should scout for players. In addition, we took a look at the trending story of Richard Sherman once again laying into the NFL's new helmet rule. Never miss a play when it comes to keeping track of the latest news about FAN Token and the FCFL β join our Telegram Announcement channel today! What's New in the FCFL with Ray Austin Co-Founder and Commissioner Ray Austin looks back at his week in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, highlighting meetings with current partners and some individuals that could impact our athletes in a big way. And also on our Twitch channel: In our latest FAN Call Friday, Sohrob and Grant discuss the value of a win. And we get a few more highlights from Ray's trip to the NFFC β in this video he speaks with several NFL players, including Danny Vitale (FB, Cleveland Browns), Joshua Dobbs (QB, Pittsburgh Steelers), Jack Crawford (DE, Atlanta Falcons), Josh Jackson (CB, Green Bay Packers), and Isaac Whitney (WR, Oakland Raiders). Notable News We made a splash when announcing Twitch would be our official streaming partner, and now it looks like Twitter is following suit. Twitter and adidas announced last week that they will be launching 'Friday Night Stripes,' the first-ever live streaming series of high school football games on Twitter. The series features nationally-ranked teams from all over the country, and will run September 7-November 9. This makes sense for adidas, as they can be seen "from grassroots to the NFL, adidas is ever-present in football culture," per their VP of Brand Activation, Kelly Olmstead. This partnership will increase exposure for these athletes, from everyone to their close family and friends to college scouts. With esports games continuing to turn their leagues professional, like Overwatch and League of Legends, the NFL's Madden Championship Series remains open to the masses. While they are committed to maintaining an open format, they do have requirements of eligibility: be at least 16 years old, reside in the United States, Mexico, United Kingdom, or Germany, and be "willing to prove themselves on the sticks." While Madden gamers tend to be NFL fans already, this open format gives the organization an opportunity to bring in new fans while increasing the interest of the existing ones. NFL's commitment to being accessible for the fans has us wondering, should the FCFL open up tryouts beyond proven athletes and give the fans a chance? After all, we are the FAN Controlled Football League. The world of sports and entertainment is one step closer to achieving fully paperless ticketing. UEFA rolled out a secure ticketing program supported by blockchain technology for last Wednesday's Super Cup. The match used blockchain-based apps on both iOS and Android for all general ticket sales, sending those who purchased tickets an activation code for the app that allowed them to present tickets at the gate for entry. UEFA admitted they tested the method previously during the Europa League final to ensure there were no issues at the Super Cup. We haven't hidden our feelings on blockchain technology, we know its the future of sports and entertainment - even CEO Sohrob Farudi made that clear in his piece for Hashtag Sports. We can't wait to see who adopts blockchain next! Don't miss daily updates on our social channels: follow us wherever you prefer: twitter, facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, or Twitch! We Want Your Input! People frequently ask us: do you really want fan input on how to run the league? Our answer is an unequivocal: YES! Not only will fans be driving all football-related decisions once the games are being played on the field, but we want fans to play an integral role in how we structure our league operations. The main channel for such communication has been and will continue to be our Telegram channel, where you can chat directly with all of our team members and co-founders at nearly any hour of the day. We have been discussing a range of topics, from Token structure to fan engagement. We would love your input as well!
