Notable News 
Last week it was announced that ESPN, Disney, and the ABC family of networks would become the new home for Overwatch League. The deal encompasses the Season One grand finals, and the entirety of Season Two next year. Viewers across the four networks and online will have access to hundreds of hours of live and highlight programming. While Overwatch is finding new ground with broadcast television, streaming will still be available on Twitch. With the demand for more access to non-traditional sports growing, can the FCFL capture some of these more traditional viewers?
Home of the FCFL, Twitch, is welcoming The Washington Post to the livestreaming community. The Post is establishing roots with the platform to reach the existing large audience through the channel they understand best: gaming. One of two programs The Post is rolling out is aptly called "Playing Games with Politicians," where political reporter David Weigel will interview politicians while they play video games. The other show, which kicked off yesterday, features Libby Casey bringing live news coverage to the livestreaming masses. Join us in welcoming The Washington Post to Twitch!
The National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) has announced a partnership with Octi, an augmented video company that will created augmented reality (AR) avatars for more than 2000 current NFL players. Following their top prize win in player marketing and consulting at the OneTeam Collective pitch day in January 2018, Octi signed an investment deal with the NFLPA. The company landed this agreement on top of a $7.5M seed round with participation from Shasta Ventures, I2BF Ventures, Bold Capital Partners, Day One Ventures, Human Ventures, Live Nation and AB InBev. Terms of the agreement have not been released, but they will be planning activations around interactive avatars, allowing fans to turn themselves into their favorite players. Could we see this kind of fan engagement flourishing in the FCFL?
