What's Up with the FAN Token World Tour? Patrick Dees recently participated on a panel at FanVest's LA Esports Business Summit at Esports Arena in Santa Ana, CA. Check out some of our footage from the event! This week, Patrick will be crossing the pond (to London!) to participate in the LEADERS Start Up competition, as FCFL was selected one of five finalists by the folks at the NFLPA and LEADERS. Thursday, Grant Cohen is back in action, speaking at Los Angeles Blockchain Conference in Santa Monica on "The Future of Live Sports: Guts, Glory & Blockchain." And, coming up next week, Patrick Dees and Grant Cohen will both participate in the fall 2018 edition of Digital Hollywood. Patrick's panel, covering "Analytic Driven Real-Time Games" will take place on October 16, and Grant's session – "Funding and Business Development in ICOs, Blockchain, AR/VR, AI and Immersion – From VCs to Kickstarter and Corporate Investments" will be on October 18. As Seen on the FAN Token Blog As we highlight trending events, issues, and decisions in the world of sports and analyze how they may or may not factor into the Fan Controlled Football League, this week's FAN Take takes a look at Amazon's decision to staff their NFL Thursday Night Football booth with a female duo – the first in the history of the league. With Hannah Storm and Andrea Kremer off to a great start, we look at Twitch broadcast booth options for the FCFL. Last night, Drew Brees set the all-time passing yards record at home in a match against the Washington Redskins. We take a quick look at the game and how everyone, including his opponents, teammates, and President Barack Obama, are reacting to the news. And also on our Twitch channel: In our latest FAN Call Friday, The Commish, Ray Austin, and our Head of Football Experience, Jason Chilton, discuss what kind of athletes they're scouting for and let you know how you can be considered for the league! Notable News This week it was announced Black Mirror would be going the "choose your own adventure" route and putting all the power to decide how the show ends into the hands of its fans (that sounds familiar, doesn't it?). The next season is set to be released in December, so fans won't be waiting long to call the shots in their favorite sci-fi series. This is a huge step forward for the world of entertainment to make tv more interactive, ironically enough done through a show that often highlights the social implications of technology. We applaud Netflix for appealing to their fans and can't wait to see what show gets this treatment next. EA sports is adding to its lineup once more by giving the Premier League its own official esports competition. The ePremier League (ePL) will launch in January 2019, with a series of online qualifiers to determine who moves on to the next stage of competition. Playoff rounds will be live and culminate at a live final in London at the end of March. To be eligible, the players must be 16 or older and play FIFA 19 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. We love seeing EA including a new sector of fans by expanding their competition roster to include the Premier League! Power to the fans! It looks like the NFL's days with DirecTV may be numbered! Despite having a deal through 2022, NFL has the right to opt out of their deal for Sunday Ticket after next season. With the prices for the package climbing every year, we imagine fans may be rejoicing over this news. Where will the NFL end up if they opt out? There are multiple streaming platforms that could pop up as potential suitors for the league, like ESPN+ and B/R Live as well as other companies that don't have a predominate presence in sports. All we know is that choosing to go with a streaming platform sounds PRETTY familiar, right fans? You may remember our FAN Take, "Can She Play," highlighting women who are paving the way for others in football. Recently, 12 year-old Brooke Choi was barred from joining the local Catholic Youth Organization football team in Chester County, Philadelphia. The offensive lineman has 3 years of experience under her belt, and previously beat our 22 boys for a roster spot in the last league she played for. We'll be watching this story as it develops, but if we had a say in it, we'd be saying she can play! People frequently ask us: do you really want fan input on how to run the league? Our answer is an unequivocal: YES! Not only will fans be driving all football-related decisions once the games are being played on the field, but we want fans to play an integral role in how we structure our league operations. The main channel for such communication has been and will continue to be our Telegram channel, where you can chat directly with all of our team members and co-founders at nearly any hour of the day. We have been discussing a range of topics, from Token structure to fan engagement. We would love your input as well!
